I really, really love Glossier. I’ve tried nearly every product besides their face masks, and I’ve been consistently impressed. Not only is the formulation great, but the branding is totally on point. In the glimpse into my medicine cabinet above, you can see that I constantly reach for the super serums, the milky jelly cleanser, the skin tint, balm dot-com, boy brow, and generation g lipstick. That’s a lot of love (and shelf space) for one brand, so let me elaborate on my Glossier love affair.
I am a huge fan of The Hills. If we hang out IRL, I’ve probably made a reference to Spencer’s infamous crystal scene or quoted my favorite Justin Bobby related one liners. Who can forget the episode where the intimidating Teen Vogue intern from NYC comes to LA and schools Lauren about flowers and has to explain to what “chinoiserie” is. That intern was Emily Weiss, the founder of Into the Gloss, and the creator of Glossier. Homegirl has been a straight G for years, and I respect the hell out of her for being such a badass and successful #girlboss.
Emily’s minimalist aesthetic definitely influenced the Glossier branding and product range. Glossier has frequently been referred to as the “cool girl” make up brand. I am not claiming to be a cool girl, but I totally love that the products lend themselves so well to a “no make up make up” look, which is my go to look for the day to day.
The Supers are three serums, one purfiying, one brightening, and one hydrating, that are great to use under make up or before bed. I usually use at least one per day, and I pick based on my skin concerns for that day. The hydrating serum was absolutely perfect to use during and after our long honeymoon flights to Greece.
I’ve already gushed about the priming moisturizer and balm dot-com, which both always lives in my make up bag. I do really enjoy the skin tint, and I keep it in the bathroom because I use it on minimal make up days. It’s very watery and really sheer, but it evens out the skin and leaves a nice, glowy finish.
Boy Brow is one of my favorite products. Just brushing it through the brows adds some volume and keeps the hairs in place. It’s usually not enough for me, because I need to fill in the sparse areas from my years of overplucking, but when I’m really looking to seal my brows, I reach for Boy Brow. It’s always sold out for good reason, and I long for the day when my brows are full enough that I don’t need any products besides this!
The Milky Jelly Cleanser is awesome for a deep clean after using an oil make up remover. You can see my favorite one to the left, the Body Shop’s Chamomile Cleansing Oil. When I wear a lot of eye make up, which isn’t very often, I feel like I need a second cleanser, and that’s where the Milky Jelly Cleanser comes in.
The Generation G Lipstick was formulated to give lips a subtle, natural looking tint. I use the color “Like,” which is a vibrant, deep pink. It makes it look like you just ate a pink popsicle, in the best way possible.
It’s not pictured here, but I also just ordered the nail polish in #glossierpink. It is the PERFECT color, and the formulation is long lasting.
